While Jennifer Bok and Steve Squire, members of Sabrix's Community Involvement Team, were brainstorming ideas to collect more cans of food for their drive, Jennifer remembered collecting cans in front of Safeway for a prior volunteer project. Steve immediately thought of a tie-in with his group, Kamino Squad, and a plan began to hatch.

Kamino Squad posted "sentries" at all entrances to the Lake Oswego Safeway, alongside a local troop of Girl Scouts. According to Squire, "The Girl Scouts were not only excellent company, with a surprisingly broad knowledge of "Star Wars", but also ensured some families in need will get girl scout cookies to enjoy!"

In two hours, Sabrix, with the help of Kamino Squad, collected 337 pounds of food for the Oregon Food Bank. In total, Sabrix donated over 500 pounds during the two-week drive. In addition, Sabrix has supported Transitions Project, Inc, Habitat for Humanity, HeadStart, KABOOM Build, American Cancer Society, and Providence Health System.

CEO Personally Matches

Employee Donations

Since joining Entreprenuers Foundation in 2005, Tripwire has participated in two EFNW-sponsored events and achieved great results with both projects. What's been the key to their success? In addition to an active Community Involvement Liaison and great employees, Tripwire has a CEO who believes in Community Involvement.

Prior to both Community Service projects, EFNW and the partnering nonprofit attended an All Hands Meeting to kick off each event. Both times, Tripwire CEO, Jim Johnson, voiced enthusiastic support for the project. At the last meeting, Johnson unexpectedly stated, "It is so important that Tripwire supports efforts such as the winter food drive that I am personally matching employee donations dollar for dollar." Johnson went on to say, "Tripwire is grateful to the Entrepreneurs Foundation for providing us with ongoing opportunities to give back to our community in a meaningful way."

Tripwire donated $2,310 and a barrel of food to the food bank, translating into over 14,000 pounds of food. Last summer, Tripwire employees donated almost $2,000 worth of supplies to Schoolhouse Supplies.
