Sabrix Stormtroopers Use the Forceat Local Safeway
While Jennifer Bok and Steve Squire, members of Sabrix's Community Involvement Team, were brainstorming ideas to collect more cans of food for their drive, Jennifer remembered collecting cans in front of Safeway for a prior volunteer project. Steve immediately thought of a tie-in with his group, Kamino Squad, and a plan began to hatch. Kamino Squad posted "sentries" at all entrances to the Lake Oswego Safeway, alongside a local troop of Girl Scouts. According to Squire, "The Girl Scouts were not only excellent company, with a surprisingly broad knowledge of "Star Wars", but also ensured some families in need will get girl scout cookies to enjoy!" In two hours, Sabrix, with the help of Kamino Squad, collected 337 pounds of food for the Oregon Food Bank. In total, Sabrix donated over 500 pounds during the two-week drive. In addition, Sabrix has supported Transitions Project, Inc, Habitat for Humanity, HeadStart, KABOOM Build, American Cancer Society, and Providence Health System. |
