Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest (EFNW) helps small and mid-sized companies develop and implement strategies for community involvement that jointly meet the goals of the company, the passions of the employees and the needs of the community. Companies become EFNW members for a small annual fee or by contributing equity that EFNW holds until liquidity and then distributes profits for community benefit, as directed by the company. EFNW works with these companies one-on-one to identify their priorities and effectively plan annual activities to foster team-building, corporate social responsibility and community leadership, making it easier for them to focus on their prime goal of building successful companies. Collectively, EFNW companies have the impact of a single large company even though their resources might be much more limited. The EFNW is affiliated with nine other Entrepreneurs Foundations worldwide and currently has 51 member companies in the northwest. Visit www.efnw.org for more information. Our model was developed in 1988 by Gib Myers, one of the leading venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. Gib realized that despite the great wealth generated by Bay Area companies a strong culture of community involvement was missing. The goal for the Entrepreneurs Foundation was, and still is, to channel the energy, wealth and innovation of the entrepreneurial sector to build a stronger community. Incorporated in 2001, we are knowledgable experts in the development and implementation of corporate community involvement and philanthropic programs. EFNW provides building blocks for strengthening the communities where employees live and work. "People around the world want companies to go beyond making a profit, paying taxes, employing people and obeying all laws; they want companies to contribute to broader societal goals as well."
